Measurement relative to a reference point
Using this function, we can make measurements relative to a selected point. This function is useful when comparing several test places in a car. For example, we choose the reference point on the left front door, and then make measurements on other parts of the car (first select in the MENU in the MATERIAL option “Reference point”). In this way, when measuring, e.g. on a roof, we get a result of -10um, which means that the roof has a coat of varnish thinner by 10um than the left front door. The reference point is not deleted when the meter is turned off.
Adaptation to other metals
In addition, this function can be used to program another variety of sheet metal (other metals). When setting the reference point, it is enough to do it on a clean sheet and from now on, after choosing the material as “Reference point”, we will be able to make measurements on such a sheet.
MEASURING ASSISTANT® function
The function tells the car assessor whether he has had body and paint repairs. When making measurements, the meter indicates via the LED:
- LED is off – the varnish is correct,
- LED is flashing – the second layer of varnish,
- LED is on – putty.
It should be noted that the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is only to help in the interpretation of measurements, it cannot be the basis for an unambiguous answer to the question whether the car has had bodywork and paint repairs. Nevertheless, many people who evaluate cars do not really know what a given thickness of paint means, so the above function is to help in this.

The calibration – zeroing function means that the meter will measure correctly in all conditions, even after several years of use.
Before measurements, you can calibrate the meter and be sure that the measurements will be correct.
The meter has compensation thanks to which it automatically calibrates, but accurate calibration is always possible using a calibration plate.
Note the meters without calibration plates – in such meters the measurement error will soon increase, because the probe wears (rubs off) and will additionally affect the aging of electronic components. That is why even meters worth several thousand zlotys have calibration plates and a calibration function in the set.
