Knowledge & Cooperation
varnish gauges are designed based on extensive knowledge in the field of electronics and material engineering
The best in Poland
our paint thickness gauges have been awarded twice with the prestigious "Best in Poland®" emblem
Known all over the world
among others in the USA, Canada, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey ... in Poland alone we sold several dozen thousand.
Car trade in our country, especially recently, has become very popular, and automotive ads can be found at almost every step. Most of us cannot imagine functioning in everyday life without a car. It can not be hidden that the purchase of a new car from the salon for many of us, due to the high cost, is unreachable, which is why automotive secondary trade is growing more rapidly. However, it should be noted that when buying a car "second-hand" you can never be sure about the actual condition of the vehicle and the integrity of the people who sell the vehicle. Remember to get as much reliable information about it and its history as possible before buying a used car. This will help you to avoid disappointment, unnecessary nerves and additional costs later.
Everyone knows perfectly well that the price should depend on the technical condition of the car, but sellers often deliberately hide unfavorable information about the vehicle (for example, accidents) so that its price does not have to be reduced. Here we meet the varnish meter / tester, whose manufacturer is, among others, Prodig-Tech. Prodig-Tech is one of the largest Polish manufacturers of varnish thickness gauges, which are characterized by precision in making measurements. Many manufacturers or business partners use similar technologies, but a good gauge of GL varnish thickness will be known by its quality and accuracy when measuring it.

GL varnish thickness gauge series available
Thinking about different types of customers, the following series are available, which are characterized by the use of similar technologies, guaranteeing the highest product quality and measurement accuracy:
Professional
The GL-PRO series meters are solutions based on modern 32-bit processors. As a result, fast and accurate measurement was obtained using a 12-bit converter. The meters use an innovative design of the measuring probe, which enables spot measurements on ferromagnetic and non-magnetic materials (depending on the version), automatically recognizing the tested material and informing on the display about the type of material. The probe is completed with so-called ball. The distinguishing feature of the FAZ series meters is the automatic recognition whether the steel sheet is covered with a zinc layer or whether it is galvanized. The most popular meter / sensor of varnish thickness in this series is the Varnish Meter GL-PRO-2-F, GL-PRO-6-Fis equally popular.Premium
The premium series is intended for more demanding users, it is characterized by a number of additional functions and technical solutions that improve the comfort of measurement and its accuracy. The available gauges have a measuring head suspended elastically, which is constructed in such a way that when pressing the probe against the test surface, it "slides" into the probe housing. Thanks to this, the measurement becomes more accurate due to a more even pressure to the tested surface. Hand shake is also leveled. The GL 8s and GL 8 paint thickness meter is the most popular in this series.Super Plus
Basic varnish meters in modern housings and with the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function. The MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT®function with a LED tells the car assessor whether he has had bodywork and paint repairs. When the function is enabled, the meter / tester indicates this by means of an LED diode on the state of the metal plate:- diode is off - correct varnish,
- diode pulsates - second coat of varnish,
- the diode is constantly lit - putty or more layers of varnish.
It should be noted that the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is only to help in the interpretation of measurements, it cannot be the basis for an unambiguous answer to the question whether the car has had bodywork and paint repairs. A perfect example is the GL-6 + or GL 6s varnish meter.
Standard
Lacquer thickness gauges GL series standard are the basic devices having the most important functions necessary for measuring the paint coating on cars. They are equipped with an LCD display (except GL-mini, which has a 7-segment LED display), on which the measurement result and function selection menu are presented. All GL varnish gauges have a built-in calibration (zeroing) function. An example is the GL-3s-UV, GL-6s or GL-3s-UV varnish meter / tester.Smart
The SMART GL varnish thickness gauges allow connection to a telephone via bluetooth. Thanks to the GL-SMART application, we receive a number of additional functions that are not available for standard paint thickness gauges. The GL-SMART application developed for Android allows connection to the meter. Depending on the model of the meter, we get a number of new functions that are not available for standard meters. Three models are available, but the most popular meter / tester in this series is the GL-SMART-8 and GL-SMART-XL varnish meter..Magnetic
Magnetic varnish thickness gauges, in which a double measuring scale was used - one on the retractable element and the other on the meter housing with a movable yellow pointer placed in the gap. Two scales are in colors with a tone depending on the thickness of the measured varnish layer. In addition, the measurement assistant was used in the form of marked measuring intervals on the scale, which inform about the original, double or putty varnish - these are, of course, only suggestive hints, but facilitate the measurement of this type of device. In this series we recommend the GL-MAG paint meter..News:

What is a varnish thickness gauge and what it is used for
Remember! Finalizing the transaction means accepting the condition of the vehicle, so it is important to carefully read the technical condition of the car before buying. Devices available on the market will help us, i.e. paint sensors or paint meters. In fact, a good paint meter / tester can save you a lot of money.
How to use the varnish thickness gauge
It should be remembered that the measurement is best done on a washed and dry surface - then we will avoid erroneous measurements, so before starting it is best to wash or wipe the places where we will measure.
The meters we offer are very easy to use and require only switching on the device and placing the probe in selected places. To make the measurement as reliable as possible, it is best if we take it in as many places as possible (preferably at intervals of about 10-15 cm), and we pay the most attention to the elements that are most exposed during a collision and which are difficult to replace, i.e. rear fenders or sills. Different manufacturers apply varnish layers of different thickness, which is why many people recommend a symmetrical comparison, for example left to right in the same place. The paint thickness should be similar in both places. If the difference between the measurements is large, it may mean that the vehicle was involved in a collision. On the other hand, in the case of a door or mask, it is best to measure from both the outside and the inside. The thickness of the varnish coating will vary on different elements, however this difference should not exceed 10µm.
What are the correct factory values for car paint thickness? The thickness of the varnish coating is given in micrometers (one millionth of a meter - the symbol μm).
60 µm-200 µm - the most desirable result means that the varnish is factory made,
200 µm-300 µm - this result means that the varnish was re-painted,
above 300 µm - at this moment we should see a red light, because the result suggests bodywork repair and filling the car.
Please note that the thickness of the factory paint layer is not the same for all cars. The biggest difference can be seen between cars produced in Europe and Asia. Brands produced in Europe have a thicker layer of varnish. Here the counter will show between 120 and 150 μm. In turn, the paint layer on cars made in Asia is thinner, and its value oscillates at the border of about 80 μm - 100 μm.
