Paint thickness gauge with ball probe on the cable available in three versions:
- GL-PRO-6-F, measurement only on steel sheets

Modernity
The GL-PRO-6 series paint thickness gauges are solutions based on modern 32-bit processors. As a result, fast and accurate measurement was obtained using a 12-bit converter.
The paint thickness gauges use an innovative design of the measuring probe, which allows spot measurements on ferromagnetic and non-magnetic materials (depending on the version), automatically recognizing the tested material and informing on the display about the type of material. The probe is completed with so-called ball.

MEASURING ASSISTANT® function
The function tells the car assessor whether he has had body and paint repairs.
When making measurements, the meter indicates using a graphic bar and inscriptions:
- green strip – correct varnish;
- yellow strip – second layer of varnish;
- red strip – putty.
It should be noted that the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is only to help in the interpretation of measurements, it cannot be the basis for an unambiguous answer to the question whether the car has had bodywork and paint repairs. Nevertheless, many people who evaluate cars do not really know what a given thickness of paint means, so the above function is to help in this.

Detection of zinc sheet on steel – only GL-PRO-6-FAZ version,/span>
The GL-PRO-6-FAZ paint thickness gauges have a function that facilitates the detection of a zinc layer on steel sheets. This is a useful feature especially when looking for a used car. Quite often, cars after road collisions replace the entire body element, e.g. a fender. Such an element, if it is new and will be varnished according to art, is difficult to verify whether it is original or a replacement by only measuring the thickness of the varnish – indications may indicate that the element is original. Equivalents of body parts produced by various companies are often not covered with a layer of zinc. Of course, to distinguish such an element, the rest of the car must be made of galvanized steel, which will be detected by the meter (FeZn indication). For example, if on one fender we get an indication of zinc and on the other one such indication will not mean that the element has been replaced.
During the measurement on such galvanized steel, which the meter will be able to detect, the display will show FeZn information, and when measuring on non-galvanized steel, the display will show Fe information.
The zinc layer must be continuous, it must be properly made. The meter may not detect a defective, cracked, discontinuous zinc layer. Such a layer usually does not fulfill its anti-corrosion role.

HOLD function
This function allows you to take a measurement and stop it. The HOLD function can be turned off from MENU.
The meters have two modes of the HOLD function:
HOLD 1 – stops the measurement on the display until the probe is moved away from the surface;
HOLD 2 – stops the measurement until the next measurement.
When the HOLD function is turned off, the meter performs continuous measurement.
Sound signaling
It is especially useful when taking measurements with the HOLD function activated. After the measurement, the meter informs us of this fact with a short beep. The sound signal can be turned off from the MENU.

The paint thickness gauges have a measuring head suspended elastically, which is constructed in such a way that when pressing the probe against the tested surface, it “slides” into the probe housing. Thanks to this, the measurement becomes more accurate due to a more even pressure to the tested surface. Hand shake is also leveled.

The probe front is made of high quality plastic, thanks to which it will serve for years.

The calibration – zeroing function means that the paint thickness gauges will measure correctly in all conditions, even after several years of use.
Before measurements, you can calibrate the paint thickness gauge and be sure that the measurements will be correct.
The meter has compensation thanks to which it automatically calibrates, but accurate calibration is always possible using a calibration plate.
Note the paint thickness gauges without calibration plates – in such meters the measurement error will soon increase, because the probe wears (rubs off) and will additionally affect the aging of electronic components. That is why even paint thickness gauges worth several thousand zlotys have calibration plates and a calibration function in the set.
