The difference between a magnetic and electronic varnish meter
Meters, magnetic varnish testers are solutions based on the principle of magnetic force, which attracts a magnet (in this case neodymium) to steel. The thicker the coat of varnish on steel, the lower the pulling power.
It should be noted that these solutions are not as accurate as electronic paint thickness gauges, but their accuracy is sufficient to assess the condition of the car body sheet metal quite accurately. After just a few attempts, the average user will gain practice in measurements.
You can easily read:
– original varnish – green area
– second coat of varnish – yellow area
– putty or thick varnish – red area.
